Run or roll for The Human Race

March marks the beginning of The Human Race, Australian Red Cross’ newest virtual fundraising campaign.

Running throughout the month, participants in The Human Race can run, roll, walk, swim, dance, or roll 26 kilometres and can raise funds for their efforts as an individual or as part of a team.

Open to people of all ages and abilities, donations will be used to support Red Cross deliver its vital humanitarian services.

Penny Harrison Chief of Staff Australian Red Cross said the campaign was another way for Australians to show their support for those who may be experiencing a crisis.

“With 26 million people living in Australia, we’re calling on all those who are passionate about helping support people experiencing vulnerability to sign up to The Human Race.

“The Human Race represents our commitment to supporting the overall resilience and well-being of Australians. In times of crisis, our focus is ensuring those affected are provided with the access to relevant connections and support services.

“From our Connected Women program, which helps migrant women overcome isolation and feel safe as they build a life in a new country, to our Community Visitors Scheme, which helps older people stay connected and independent with their community, everyone who takes part in The Human Race is supporting Red Cross to deliver the services that people experiencing vulnerability across the country need,” Penny said.

Over the course of March, more than 2,000 fundraisers will take part in The Human Race, with an aim to walk, run, or swim 26 kilometres before the end of the month. Participants are encouraged to share their experience completing The Human Race on their social channels, and those who reach fundraising milestones will go into the draw to win several major prizes, with winners to be announced on 11 May 2023.
